Miley Cyrus Will Induct Fellow Badass Joan Jett Into The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame

Looks like Miley Cyrus is continuing her maturation from pop princess to aspiring punk. The “Wrecking Ball” singer will officially be inducting Joan Jett into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Yup, on Apr. 18, Cyrus will likely enrage rock ‘n’ roll purists when she takes the stage at the Public Hall in Cleveland to usher the legendary “Bad Reputation” singer into the hallowed halls of r ‘n’ r history. She joins the super-ubiqitious Paul McCartney, who is inducting Ringo Starr; Patti Smith, who will bring in the late Lou Reed; and Fall Out Boy, who will induct Green Day.

Cyrus’ participation in the event actually makes total sense. After dropping her hip-hop heavy BANGERZ, she’s been moving more into the alt/punk world of late, collaborating with Wayne Coyne from the Flaming Lips and worshipping at the feet of Riot Grrrl icon Kathleen Hanna. She also once sang with Jett on “Oprah,” so that’s cool.
Given that Miley only has a few weeks to prepare, we decided to help her out with her speech-making — using only lyrics from Joan Jett jams. This is only a jumping-off point, lady — we’ll let you round out the rest:
A girl can do what she wants to do — it’s a new generation. I love rock n’ roll — strange sounds too. She works real hard to try to make things right. She’s impossible to ignore. She teaches so the others will know: “I don’t really care if you think I’m strange — I ain’t gonna change. I don’t give a damn ’bout my reputation.”
